Our Country

The Argentina name comes from the latin "Argentum" that means silver. This goes back to the Spanish conquerors who settled down in the region in 1524, and of which we became independent the 9th of July in the year 1816.

The Argentine territory covers a surface of approximately 3.757.407 square kms. The distance from North to South is of 3.799 km, and from West to East it is of 1.423 km. It shares borders with Uruguay Paraguay, Brazil, Bolivia and Chile. Its main cities are Buenos Aires,  the Federal Capital, and Cordoba, Rosario, Mendoza and La Plata.

The Argentina Nation adopts for its democratic government the Representative, Republican and Federal form. The Argentine Republic state is constituted of 23 Provinces and one Independent City.

Population is around 37 milion inhabitants, mainly located in the urban centers. Spanish is the official language and the totality of Argentineans speak it. English, French and Italian are languages spoken in varying degrees of frequency depending on  the region.

In this territory you will find three main types of landscapes: mountains, plains and plateaus. The country not only leans on the highest summit of America, the Aconcagua of 6.959 meters, but also opens to the widest river of the world: the Rio de la Plata, 220 km in its opening.

Argentina generally can count on a temperate climate, but towards the north starts a great subtropical zone and towards the south, the cold climate prevails.
