MSC Argentina.

Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A., with headquarters based in Geneva, Switzerland and operating more than 400 geared vessels worldwide, will start a new shipping operation in the Paraná River, offering weekly services calling Zarate – TZ Port Terminals – and Rosario that connect to the different destinations offered, providing a service according to the capacity and frequency that the market demands throughout the year.
The service is due to start operating in the last two weeks of April with the “MSC Chelsea”, which holds up to 1300 Teus and 33.251 tons suitable to transport dry and reefer cargo dedicated to both importation and exportation.
This new service is a response from MSC to the requests of clients which encourage industrial and agroexport growth from the West, North, North West and North East of Argentina.
Since years, MSC has been developing operations in these ports providing third party barge services.
We have contributed to the development of this region since our beginning here in Argentina, for which now, before the increase in volume and constant requests for warehouse space, MSC has acted on the needs placed by the market and have thus initiated this new service with our own vessels to accommodate the ever growing demand.
In recent years, importation and exportation destinations have adapted their logistics as to take advantage of the services offered by the region for the movement of container cargo.
Annually, the number of transported containers increases considerably ever more, and it is important that we find alternatives in being able to deal with this growth.
MSC will continue to operate their traditional weekly services in Buenos Aires taking in cargo from all the destinations in the world, while adding this service to the already existent ones, and giving our importation and exportation clients the opportunity to channel their cargo onto the most convenient route, whether it being Buenos Aires, Zarate and /or Rosario.
The advantages for operating through Zarate and Rosario ports – depending on the location where the company is situated in of course – can be very beneficial depending on the logistical structure for each importer and exporter.
Furthermore, other important benefits include economic, logistical, operational and most notably the easiness of access of important rail lines entering and leaving the ports, while also experiencing less land transit times for the north and east of the country.
This step is the continuance of our policy to constantly improve our service to guarantee our clients satisfaction, and to further develop our daily intermodal services while offering new alternatives and extending the modes of transport as well as routes and services.
